Two great ways to help you settle in at Sussex

If you are you joining us at the International Study Centre in September, or if you already study with us, you can take advantage of two great schemes organised by the University of Sussex Students' Union.

Language Cafe

The Language Cafe is a great place for you to learn or practice a language you're interested in. It's also a fun and sociable way to meet other students from different cultural backgrounds. Whether you are fluent or a beginner, everyone is welcome.

The Language Cafe takes place every Tuesday from 5.30pm to 7pm at the Falmer Bar cafe (on campus). During the summer it takes place at the Dorset pub in central Brighton.

Buddy Scheme

The Buddy Scheme helps new students settle in to student life at Sussex. It works by matching you up with a current student at Sussex, called a Buddy – you can be matched up according to your interests, university course and the language you speak.

You'll have the opportunity to talk to each other before you arrive (during August and September) and meet up regularly once you arrive. Your Buddy will be a source of support and advice, and you'll also be able to enjoy a range of activities together – from beach walks, afternoon tea and film nights to trips to the Harry Potter studios and visiting London.
