International Study Centre

Starting your course at the ISC

Posted 03 September 2016

Welcome to the International Study Centre

The new semester starts in just over one week, on Monday 12 September 2016. We will let you know the exact date and time you need to arrive at the International Study Centre (ISC) for your first day.

Important things you need to know

  • Once we let you know what time you need to arrive at the International Study Centre, make sure you set your morning alarm early so that you have time to get ready.
  • The ISC is easy to find. It is located on campus, in the Friston Building. Download a map to help you find your way around the campus.
  • Things you need to bring with you on your first day include: Your passport, Visa, CAS letter, Evidence of your SELT (Secure English Language Test) and Financial guarantee letter (if you are a sponsored student).

Feeling nervous?

Many students feel a little nervous on the first day of semester. Don't worry, this is perfectly natural. Talking to other students will help you feel more relaxed. Don't forget that the International Study Centre staff will also be there to support you every step of the way.

Induction programme

During the first week of semester you will get an introduction to the UK, the university and the ISC. This is called ‘induction’ or an ‘induction programme’.

The weekend before the semester starts you will be able to go on a campus tour, which is the best way to find out about everything the University of Sussex campus has to offer, and meet other students.

As part of the induction programme you will get useful information about your course, such as timetables and academic information. You will also meet your new, friendly tutors and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

You will be able to get involved with a range of fun social activities for new students. Log in to Study Direct to find out what we've got planned for you.
